Hallie Schmidt was born and raised in Olympia, WA, where she spent most of her life as a competitive Irish dancer. After discovering her passion for opera, she pursued her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Oklahoma City University, receiving her degree in 2020 with honors. Ms. Schmidt then recieved her Artist Diploma at William Jewell College as part of the inaugural class under the direction of Daniel and Kathleen Belcher.

In the spring of 2023, Ms. Schmidt made her house debut with the Pacific Northwest Opera, singing Sophie in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavlier under the baton of Maestro Jonathan Kuhner. The same spring, she also sang Mariana in Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World with Seattle Opera’s touring education program. 2022 included Ms. Schmidt’s role debut as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos at Vashon Opera, as well as her engagement as a Gerdine Young Artist with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, where she sang First Spirit/Queen of the Night (cover) in The Magic Flute and excerpts of Ariadne aus Naxos on the Center Stage Concert under the baton of Daniela Candillari. Previously, she has appeared as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Elle in Francis Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine, Aveline Mortimer in Elizabeth Cree, Anne Egerman in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, and Despina in Cosí fan tutte. She was also was a young artist with Landlocked Opera in Kansas City, MO for the 2021-2022 season. Ms. Schmidt also received great acclaim for her performance with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in 2019, where she sang Tytania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The 2023/2024 season will include role debuts as Frasquita in Carmen with Tacoma Opera, and Blonde in Die Endfürung aus dem Serail, as well as a return to Pacific Northwest Opera as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro.

Hallie will begin her 2024-2025 season as a Resident Artist with Opera Colorado.
